The concepts of renew, reuse, and recycle have been drilled into my mind from the moment I entered a classroom  however I was under the impression this applied only to items like plastic bottles and paper, not campaigns ads.

A close friend of mine pointed out the startling resemblance of a Mitt Romney ad to the poster that won Margaret Thatcher’s 1978 election.

There’s no denying where Romney’s campaign staff got the inspiration and I find it trite. To me there is something so disingenuous when using other’s materials, especially knowing the resources Romney has at his disposal. On the other hand, my friend loved the concept, giving it high praise for its cleverness.

What do you think? Feel free to give your opinions in the comment section and list any other examples of recycled campaign ads, slogans, or themes.
